losing at hide and seek

so it's been a long time..and i dont really feel like writing anything, but it appears as if some people still come here  (i got one of those emails that tell you like the number of people who visit and what time they visit and stuff)...so i thought id day a little about what ive been up to

since i last wrote- Been to Australia, Philippines, Malaysia, had graduation, a bunch of surprise parties,  was a part of "november was a snowy month in silver springs" for battle of the bands at my school, ate an aborted duck embryo,  coached u-12 basketball, pulled a few all nighters to hang out with friends, dressed up for banquet, blew up in anger in AP english, took AP exams, played 21 games of basketball against community teams in 11 days, took my cousin out to do touristy things here in s'pore, decided was going to Lehigh Univ. in PA, had to do all the "incoming freshman stuff"...and took a lot of pictures...since i last wrote, 3,771 in total..good times

january's coming fast

well last night stayed up watching a knicks game. It was a pretty good triple overtime game. Dont get to see those everyday. As i hear, its the first triple overtime in madison square garden. So the knicks were playing the suns and we beat them 140 to 133..not bad against a team thats supposed to one in the top 4 in speaking of teams. So the knicks have a perfect record for 2006..good stuff.

Got a hot dog at a street stand in nyc..was pretty good. I had mustard, ketchup, relish and i could still taste the hot dog..That was pretty good. It's nice to eat hot food bought from stands when its cold and raining. It hasnt snowed in garden city since we got here but its been cold..wet and cold dont mix...its nice to watch from windows, with hot chocolate or your favorite coffee from Godiva.

a judo triple pile drive

well watched the ball drop last night..was terribly dissappointing. It was more of a ball descending than it dropping. But whatever..according to mariah carey and ryan seacrest it was "magical". Taking their word for it, i went to bed.

Woke up and went to church. Was good. Came home and went out for lunch. My uncle took us out for chinese. That was good too. Came home watched some football and drank snapple. It's been fun and exciting. The new year starts out as an ordinary day.  Have a good one.

mushrooms, shrimp, and chocolate sauce

food mixes well with drink. Ok so two days ago ended up in Bethlehem, PA..checking out Lehigh University with my parents. Decided to stop at a irish place..and had a pretty intense reuben sandwich..to quote myself "corned beef and saurkraut never tasted so good"...Aye...I had that with fries and potato salad..Potatoes are the best..ever. So we ended up getting back to home at around 9 and were going to go out for dinner but then my grandmother decided to fry some shrimp for us...that was intense. I love cocktail sauce. To top it off i had a ice cream sandwich (the excuse "i only come to the US once/twice a year" come sin handy). So then yesterday was kind of full for breakfast but in the spirit of eating whenever food is out i had a bowl of cereal. Then for like the rest of the morning i got hooked on a bag of goldfish which invitably had to be washed down with snapple. When lunch arrived, had soup and a boston creme donut from dunkin donuts. Good thing we werent having a big dinner, that night we went out with my dad's family to a buffet place..was pretty intense..I had a lot. And testament to that- i didnt have breakfast this morning. So today winging it without breakfast- we had white castle which was nice. I like white castle..had a bunch of burgers and then came home full. For dinner had chili dogs and salad. And then for dessert has rocky road..which takes us to twenty minutes before the ball drops..which always calls for a celebratory eggnogg or something...

A new paragraph for new stuff. I finished my AP reading. A litote in the highest degree- I am happy to be done. How does a poem mean was a hard read. I didnt have very much fun with it, which shows in like the 50 hours it took me to read it. The merchant of venice was infinitely better. I read it in like 2 and a half hours straight, which i did today. It was actually enjoyable and a lot nicer than macbeth. its all good.

Have a great new year, but it's not so much about the new year as about the past year. It seems interesting how the holiday is highlighting our an established increment of time which we can reflect on. So reflect away. ..

blonde hair and blue eyes

"It used to be about skills, now it's about pills."

And i've come to the recent decision, that the Source of Love is my new favourite movie. It's just fabulous. Brings tears to my eyes.

Hmmm been learning about how to handle people crying recently. Good tips from Christina and Hannah the other night. Apparently "are you ok" brings immediate breakdown.

The right way to eat a Ferrero Rocher is to bite it in pieces. cuz stuffing the whole thing in your mouth at once just ruins the flavour. But if u eat it slowly the delectable chocolately taste lasts longer...

i dont wanna be anything other than what ive been trying to be lately... new favourite song too

durty south

a clean 1500 visitors...i guess that doesnt count like the 678 times ive visited my own blog. So found this weird band and feel compelled to share some lyrics from a song of theirs called "kountry gentleman"
" I come from the land where the mullet attacks/Business up front, Party in the back/You gotta style in the south when ur stepping out/Put a gold tooth in ur mouth/ Look at you now
Tank top, ur ball-cap, you think ur all that/But ur looking like Scott Stapp/Ur just another redneck from back in the woods/Not a Kountry Gentleman that can bring the goods"

They take pride in being from the "durty south".

Right so it's interesting how so many people are complaining to Bush about how the Iraq consititution is overdue, outrcries and whatnot. But who are americans that we should be complaining. One needs to remember that our own nation was formed in 1776 but  and our Constitution was not ratified until 1788. Thats 12 years. Why then are we so impatient with the Iraqis because they could not draft and ratify a consitution in the span of months....

Another interesting topic is how so many hairdressers are guys. Taking a informal poll in mandarin class, all the girl population of the class had guy hairdressers. It's kind of like how cooking was/is seen as a woman's job but many famous chefs are men- Martin Yan, Jamie Oliver, Anthony Bourdain, etc...and also it seems as if a lot of the "posh" restaurants are run by guys. lol the only women cooks i can think of on tv is kylie kwong (prally biased to support my point but whatever).. it would seem as if this is definitely a situation where the sexes are not equal..yet i havent heard of any (insert any liberal news network) running any stories on discrimination in the kitchen....lol random thought

Something else was talking about in mandarin class was that when a guy gets married, he pretty much never has to choose his wardrobe again. The wife will pretty sure tell you when you need to change..and from examples given by some in the class the wife will just start choosing the clothes for guys. i guess whatever works.

Blindside has a good single...it's called "fell in love with the game", it's up for download at http://www.purevolume.com/blindsidesweden/music  ...go pick it up.

Be going to malaysia soon again. The fleischmanns are coming with us so that should be fun. And for anyone who doesnt know the narrowed choices for senior trip are mauritius and australia...

random kids in the way song title that i thought was weird
- "breaking the legs of sheep"

joywriting across the map

To avoid cliche. Does cliche include just things in the present that are overused? Or does it spread to include the cliche of days past? For example in the 60s it was a cool thing to say "dope" (not saying it was but just a random word) it wouldnt be cliche today right? Because everyone would try to avoid being too cliche the usage of dope would fall in a spiraling descent into extinction (until people "discover" it and it becomes vintage). It seems "cliche" is kind of a perpetually changing state that grasps the overused of the present and discards the over-abused things of the past. Cliche is really also dependent on the person. Like for me hearing a song with the lyric "i am yours, you are mine" would automatically register as a cliched line.. whereas someone who has been riding horses in mongolia for 12 years would not simply because they had not been exposed to it as much as I would have been. But whatever. That whole tangent was sparked by the fact that I did not want to say "sorry for taking so long to blog..ive been busy" because I pretty much say that everytime  but whatever.. honesty labeled as cliche....So today marked the first day of school. I put up the car jar (big accomplishment, lol spread the love of yankee candles mandarin cranberry). I am not particularly fond of the first day of school. It's nice to see everyone and all, but 1. All the teachers are really strict with rules 2. All the work seems overwhelming because I'm just not used to it after 2 months of not doing much work 3. It's nice to see everyone but it just seems a little awkward because I havent seen some of them for 2 months and all of a sudden it's like trying to catch up with a bunch of different people. Leaves one feeling stretched. I didn't get too much homework tonight. I dont really think homework on the first day is really a wise idea. It kind of leaves the students feeling slightly overwhelmed, at least that's my personal preference. But whatever. My mandarin class tried to persuade our teacher to take us to starbucks during class. Twas fruitless. It feels really cramped and boring to write about school lol. SO ill talk about flyleaf. I got their EP in the states this summer. Yep "it's the hottest summmer record out" to quote john reuben..but whatever yeah thanks to everyone for leaving comments/messages and all the like..makes things interesting...

great band- deepspace5....free downloads on their site (lol whenever i talk about them it feels like people are thinking "what a stupid name") but whatever www.deepspace5.com

"burning styrofoam in the driveway"

random (lol unlike everything else which has had a point *rolls eyes)- i used "but whatever" like 4 times in the space of a few words (i didnt count)...im thinking that wont fly well with AP graders on the exam...
